Tapping Frog Creative is building a production model in which new talent and people with additional needs can do paid, professional work. We are looking for partners who want to see it succeed.
The problem
Two barriers keep capable people out of screen work. New and emerging performers are rarely cast without proof they can hold a screen, and cannot get that proof without being cast.
For people with additional needs, in front of the camera and behind it, the barrier is often practical. Supporting additional needs can take more time, more time costs money, and in an industry driven by tight margins and packed schedules, that is where exclusion tends to happen.
What we have built
Mentor Through Film is our initiative for collaborative productions, made with voluntary support and free of the constraints of funders or sales. It gives emerging creatives a supportive place to learn on real films that reach real audiences. Our award-winning films are available to stream and have been broadcast internationally.
Annarie, who leads our creative production, brings specialist SEND expertise to making that environment work.
What we want to build next
Alongside Mentor Through Film, Tapping Frog Creative develops larger commercial projects across film, television and documentary. We want to carry what works in the initiative into those productions: paid roles for new talent and for creatives with additional needs, in an environment built to let people do their best work. On commercial projects, that also means pairing established names with new and emerging talent.
That takes a different kind of backing. These are commercial productions, run commercially, and the additional time and support is budgeted rather than cut. We are looking for partners who put the model first, and who will fund the time that makes it possible.
Ways to get involved
Back a commercial production
Partner on a specific film, series or documentary where the inclusive environment is built into the plan and the budget. Financial terms depend on the project and the partner, and are discussed directly. Project information, including scripts and the status of financing, is shared privately with qualified enquirers.
Support Mentor Through Film
Help us make more collaborative productions and more opportunities for emerging creatives and creatives with additional needs. This suits trusts, foundations, businesses and individuals who want to support the initiative itself.
We also welcome other kinds of help, from facilities and expertise to distribution and sales relationships.
